Hotel Del Coronado

San Diego

The Dragon Tree

So much to see and do in the San Diego area, but we decided to spend our time in Coronado and enjoy our incredible upgraded ocean-front accommodations.  We did venture over to Point Loma one day and explored the area discovered by Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo of Portugal long ago.

The weather was perfect and afforded us lots of time to swim and play in the sand.
The city of San Diego, as viewed from across the bay at Coronado, was stunning.  Truly, it is a beautiful city by the sea.  I really fell in love with the place where the sunshine burns through the misty fog and salty air.  Where just off the shore, on a clear sunny morning you can watch dolphins breach high and away from the water.  And at night the bright lights from Mexico, just a shore away, shine into the darkness.  Where American Navy and their Seals run up and down the beach building their strength and resolve, and where their ships anchor off the coast, not resting, but protecting.  It's a place where their fighter jets slice through the atmosphere at any given hour.   And where, when all their earthly service is done, they rest in white-markered graves on the hills of Point Loma.

It's a beautiful place.

And because it's Monday, I count blessings....

  1. I've not been this over-stimulated (in a visual way) in far too long. To say I love these pictures is inadequate. My new desktop background photo is the gem you created of G, S and SG in the pool (a masterpiece)! Wow! And next week's desktop photo G made (or perhaps S took it!) of you and SG - such vibrant color and radiance of joy and life against a stark and barren background - creates a contrast that "pops" the essence of each of you (you and SG), and screams to be the model Mother's Day poster. Such love, comfort and security in that image. Others (the dolphin, S and SG with the Dragon Tree), et all, just make me wish I could have been there. But, quite honestly, I'm glad I wasn't there. I'm so glad God ordained the time for the foursome that are my beloved brother, sister-in-love, and the children of my heart.

    Lots of love,

    Kayla

  4. I didn’t come from the link today – I was just coming by to read you. Wow, a dolphin – that close to shore. I’ve seen them far off – never this near. And your family at the beach – how awesome is that!! The little one looking for shells – with big sis helping – and the boys of course building a kingdom. And that hotel – I know that hotel. Thank you for this today – I hearted it lots Kara – and God Bless and keep you and all of yours.
